We are pleased that you will be able to join us this April in San Antonio for the inaugural Renewed in Grace Retreat. We have worked hard to craft an agenda that we pray will be beneficial to you and your spouse. It is our hope that you will:
- be renewed in the joy of salvation and restored in the privilege of service through worship and Bible study in fellowship with your brothers and sisters in ministry.
- have the opportunity to take advantage of presentations aimed at your specific season in the called ministry (as couples and individually).
- have the opportunity to consider challenges and opportunities you may face in the future – both financial and ministerial.
- celebrate God’s grace on your ministry and the ministry of your classmates.
Please see the detailed agenda for more detailed information on workshops and scheduling.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Workshops
Three sets of workshops are offered. One set is for pastors, another set is for spouses, and the final set is for couples to attend together. Among the selections below, please choose two workshops that the pastor or spouse will attend from each workshop set.
All three of the couples workshops will be offered twice during two one-hour sessions (12:45-1:45 & 2:00-3:00). While couples are encouraged to attend sessions together, you are welcome to divide up for one of the sessions so as to have at least one spouse in each of the three couples workshops.
Individual Meetings
For those who would like an opportunity to discuss particular ministry or family issues on a more individual basis, appointments can be made with Rich Gurgel, Daron Lindemann, John Schuetze, or Paul Prange during any open time in the schedule.
Those who would like to meet with Verlyn or Kelly Hahn of the Hahn Financial Group (the Hahn Financial Group administers the WELS Shepherd Plan) to discuss financial planning issues can also make appointments to do so.
Meals
Your registration includes the following meals. Please list any dietary restrictions in the box provided below.
- Tuesday, April 10 — dinner
- Wednesday, April 11 — continental breakfast & box lunch
- Thursday, April 12 — continental breakfast & box lunch
Lodging
Retreat attendees are responsible for making and paying for their own lodging arrangements. A special reduced rate has been secured and can be accessed online via a dedicated booking link for our group. The reduced rates are also available for two days following the retreat should you and your spouse choose to stay and enjoy beautiful San Antonio for a few days after the retreat.
Reservations must be made no later than Sunday, March 18, 2012, to secure the reduced group rate. Reservations made after that date are subject to the prevailing rate and availability.
Parking
Hotel parking is available at a cost of $19.00 per day with in and out privileges.
Ground Transportation
Ground transportation from the airport is available via the San Antonio Airport Shuttle Service. Cost per round-trip is $32.00 per person. Make your reservations online, making certain to select “Drury Plaza-DT” as your destination.
Registration
There is a $210.00 registration fee (payable online) which helps cover most of your meals (see above), presenter costs, meeting space fees, and retreat materials. In addition, you can expect to pay for your lodging (see above), your travel (see below), and any other incidental fees you may incur.
If you are planning to attend, please register as soon as you are able. Registrations will not be accepted after March 18, 2012.
Travel Assistance
Your seminary has made funds available to help off-set travel costs for retreat attendees. Travel expenses over $200.00 per couple will be matched dollar for dollar from a travel equalization fund. Reimbursements will be made after the retreat for documented expenses that may include: airfare, shuttle transportation, parking, or mileage paid at the current WLS rate of $.45 per mile.
See the sample cost breakdown for more information.
